This web site is dedicated to the genealogy of Hans Stauffer, his family, his ancestors and his descendents.  Hans and his family were the first Stauffers to settle in the United States, having arrived in Pennsylvania from the Palantinate (Southern Germany) in 1710.

You can locate information about Hans Stauffer in many genealogical books and on numerous web sites.  Often what you will find is conflicting, incorrect, and outdated information.  Many thousands of people are descended from Hans!  Are you one of them?  Many more are descended from his ancestors, especially his grandfather Christian, the fiery anabaptist preacher of Eggiwil, Switzerland.

Almost all American Stauffers are believed to be related to this family.

This web site will strive to separate fact from fiction.  It is hoped that the collective efforts of many people working together on the web can create the most comprehensive source of information about this interesting family.

Account Books Found!

Hans is famous for his account books.  Consisting of two volumes, the earliest entries date from 1685. They are believed to be the oldest surviving account books brought to this country from the "old world".  They have been lost and found serveral times over the years.  Now they have surfaced again!
